Bay Bridge Halloween by mitya Bay Bridge Halloween by mitya
Here's the real reason I didn't upload many comics in October. Pulling this together took a while! I marathoned episodes of House while working on it, and definitely got through a few seasons in the process. Good thing my course load this quarter isn't too heavy!

The designs on the shirt and the socks are painted on; this was kind of a pain. The truss pattern on the crutch is balsa wood, masking tape, hot glue, and silver paint; this was a huge pain. The wig was initially pale blond, but I colored it gray; this was the most tedious pain of all. And yet, I enjoyed working on it all.

This being an original character design based on a rather unusual subject for a Halloween costume, I didn't expect anyone to make sense of it. I'm used to being obscure! The fact that one person did get it without me having to explain totally made my evening.

I'm just as late responding! (I was out camping, in my defense.)

Thank you so much! It was fun to make! Though I think I could do even better now...

Thanks, dude!
I'm planning on resurrecting it for Bay to Breakers. My not-so-secret hope is to actually assemble a whole group of personified San Francisco landmarks for the occasion.

This is the most awesome costume. Your socks! THEY ARE THE BEST, MOST PERFECT BAY BRIDGE SOCKS. I also like your crutch. FANCY.

Also: I am thrilled-by-proxy that someone knew what your costume was without having you explain it. That is honestly the best thing. Aw man, Hallowe'en- I miss it already.

SUPER BELATEDLY, I am so glad you like! It makes me happy to hear that people who realize the importance of Halloween like what I did here! I ALREADY MISS IT, TOO.

The socks were actually pretty easy to make! Yay fabric paint plus regular blue knee socks! I did not actually try and knit this thing, because that would have required learning to knit and would have ended only in disaster.

Thank yoooou!
