Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary by mitya Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary by mitya
I had a lot of fun parodying the Muni centennial logo, and since a certain other major landmark has a major anniversary this year as well, it seemed only fair that her logo get a similar treatment.

The actual Golden Gate Bridge 75 logo is the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway, and Transportation District, and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

Yes, GGB is such an icon, the love and pride is obvious. And I love the logo!

The actual logo is very striking. I love how its color scheme incorporates the international orange with the idea of "golden." I'd been planning on inserting my character into it for a while.

I wonder if the designers ever thought this structure would still be in place all those years ago? I like this tribute, to such a wonderful national landmark!

The designers definitely expected the bridge to be around for that long. The chief engineer said something to the extent that it should last a thousand (I'm having trouble finding the actual quote right now), which is not realistic for a manmade structure and was probably hyperbole right off the bat, but I'm sure they were counting on well over 100.

I'm glad you like the drawing!

Wow! Maybe his words will be prophetic! What I like about this is the coloring for Golden Gate. It really does remind me of the bright and cheery landmark that people say is such an indication of welcome into San Fran.

I'm sure people will do everything they can to keep this bridge around forever. It really is a landmark and an icon, and if it were to ever go away, that would be devastatingly sad to the city's image and sense of self. Locals love the bridge even more than tourists do, I think.

It's very nice to know that a city takes such pride in such a lovely landmark! I hope the Golden Gate Bridge will always stick with San Francisco no matter what. Because when I think of San Fran, that bridge is the first thing that pops into my head. The street cars are the other.
